Catholic Community Services, Family Housing Network Day Center provides a place for families with children who are homeless to come and stay during the day with access to showers, washers/dryers and showers. FHN also has Coordinated Entry, Rapid Re-housing, Permanent Supportive Housing and Veterans programs who work with clients experiencing homelessness.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED

Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.

Proof of negative TB test within 12 months

Ability to be compassionate, nonjudgmental

Set clear boundaries

Work with diverse population including people with active mental health and chemical dependency issues

Be a positive and proactive team member

Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.

Coordinate ongoing operations of the Day Center:

  • Complete set-up of the room utilized prior to opening.
  • Sort and organize all donations.
  • Welcome individuals as they enter and collect data on the sign-in sheet.
  • Maintain calm and welcoming presence.
  • Maintain supplies, toiletries, and other needs of the Day Center
  • Keep a written log of events and participate in daily client update meetings
  • Clean-up the room after each day of operation. Maintain cleanliness and order in all areas
  • Laundry of towels and other FHN items used by clients.

Monitor and maintain safe shower, laundry, and kitchen facilities, including the

management of shower and laundry sign ups and timing of showers

  • Take out garbage for Day Center areas
  • Engage with individuals as appropriate. Set appropriate boundaries for behavior and utilize de-escalation skills as needed.
  • Notify staff in the event of an emergency or other event requiring assistance.
  • Enter data into HMIS as required by contract and agency.
  • Assist clients with internet searches for employment, education & housing.
  • Distribute hygiene items and other donations as available and appropriate.
  • Use knowledge of community services and resources to assist the families
  • Conduct homeless screenings with clients for potential diversion conversations.
  • Provide oversight and communication of all FHN policies and procedures to the families in the FHN Day Center.
  • Patrol the FHN building and grounds for people loitering in the parking lot or immediate area and explains and enforces agency policy regarding loitering, littering, smoking, parking, etc
  • Clean/pick up trash and debris from the parking lot and around the FHN building

Staff the FHN Reception Desk.

  • Answers incoming telephone calls and routes callers to appropriate staff persons. Receiving incoming visitors and notifies the appropriate staff person of their arrival.
  • Provides information on available resources, or refers clients to the appropriate staff person. Maintain resource guides & brochures in lobby.
  • Assists with the opening and closing tasks at the FHN building.
  • Provide clerical support to FHN staff like copying, filing, archival
  • Provide services for new hires: order business cards, create mailbox, name on in/out board, computer/phone/work station set up, elevator keys
  • Update lobby bulletin board
  • Maintain/stock office supplies, toner, stamps, purchase orders, bus tickets
  • Take staff meeting notes and distribute
  • Report copier trouble
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.12 - $21.33 per hour
