Service Engineer

1. Job Title:

Service Engineer

2. Responsibilities:

Responsible for the understanding and continual improvement of medical devices, including components/subsystems for Waters Medical Systems (WMS) current kidney perfusion and blood oximetry product lines.

Understanding all WMS product technologies.

Be the lead technology resource for WMS service activities for all products.

Assist service technician(s) with device unit repair troubleshooting.

Lead for drawing/electronic schematic comprehension and updates.

Contribute to drawing or schematic update suggestions. Work with senior management (on-site) to implement changes.

Use established procedures to improve existing medical devices and accessories.

Continually optimize manufacturing and repair procedures to provide industry leading repair processes and customer service.

Perform electronic test procedures to verify and validate product repair ecacy when required.

Document all developments with appropriate records (documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and lab notebooks).

Contribute to change management, CAPA and complaint processes. This may included resolution, documentation and customer responses.

Perform in a back-up role for device repairs.

Assist in the completion of new and existing product design validations.

Assist in training personnel to processes associated with repair of medical devices.

Develop efficient (i.e. cost, material, time, etc.), user-friendly repair processes.

Comply with appropriate regulations (i.e. GMP, FDA, etc.) and quality systems requirements.

Communicate with strategic vendors, customers and suppliers as required.

Participate and contribute with facility audits as required.

Contributes in facility IT plan (preferred but not required).

Reports to the Plant Manager, no direct reports. Works closely with the WMS repair technician. May have to occasionally communicate via phone or virtually with customers

3. Education:

Requires an associate degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering environment OR (preferred) a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of two years of experience in an engineering environment.

Emphasis will be given to degrees in an electrical discipline.

4. Qualification & Experience:

Experience with FDA requirements for medical devices.

Strong electronic understanding. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with team members seamlessly.

Excellent problem solving, design skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of Solidworks. Experience or ability to become knowledgeable with MS Oce and EPR systems (Microsoft GP). Other minor software as necessary.

Basic IT knowledge in order to contribute to the facilities IT plan.

Physical Demands / Surroundings – Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Have extended hours sitting and or walking.

Visual Demands - Must be able to read and see clearly. Ability to distinguish small distinct electronic details within products and/or product support documents.

Limited Travel - 0 to 10% required travel. Very seldom travel to customer facilities (domestic) to troubleshoot control units.

Work Week - Work days/hours are generally Monday through Thursday 7a-4p, Friday 7a-1p. Weekend work is rare. Schedule can be slightly flexible with starting and ending hour.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
