Originally built in 1909 by Alfred Vanderbilt of the wealthy Vanderbilt family, The Vanderbilt is a vintage Newport mansion meticulously restored to its former glory, just minutes from the vibrant Newport waterfront.

Role Summary:

Dining Room Servers will take Food & Beverage orders and deliver them to our guests maintaining and enhancing the quality of our customer service. You will work in collaboration with colleagues and follow established health and safety standards. The goal is to provide guests with a memorable experience.

Core Responsibilities:

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done! Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

      Primarily responsible for assisting Guests in food and beverage service.

        Relate with guests about needs, satisfaction with the food & beverage, ensuring a consistently caring and high quality service.

          Comply with Vanderbilt standards in use within the Restaurant and other Food & Beverage outlets.

            Be knowledgeable about dishes, cooking methods, menu items, specials and prices.

              Accurately and quickly take and place food & beverage orders and input them into the Micros system.

                Clean, clear and reset dining room tables as needed.

                  Ensure that serving stations are well-stocked at all times.

                    Prepare the guest check accurately and collect payment or signature, as required.

                      Operate, maintain and properly clean all the food & beverage equipment.

                        Serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with federal, state, local and company regulations.

                          Use safe food handling procedures and maintain a safe-working environment by using proper food handling skills and food safety guidelines.

                            Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

                              Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

                            Required Qualifications:

                              • Ideal candidate possess a minimum of 1 year experience in food service/hospitality.
                              • Serve Safe Certification highly appreciated.
                              • TIPs training certification required to be submitted within the first 60 days of being hired.:
                              • A good knowledge of food and wine is highly appreciated. Professional appearance and manner, good character to work in a fast-paced team. Positive, honest and energetic work ethic.
                              • Ability to communicate clearly and elegantly in English.
                              • Able to work on a flexible schedule, including week-ends and holidays, according to department needs.
                              • Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours and be able to transport trays weighing up to 30 pounds.
