What you will be doing

Accountant works in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. Primary function is to create and maintain allocation processes and handle accounting functions on the GL Support Team which includes maintaining the chart of accounts and structure and supporting the General Ledger team and other departments in resolving issues, creating accounting process efficiencies, and engaging in activities that contribute to meeting accounting close deadlines. Participates in staff meetings and to team activities.

The position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Oracle’s allocation processes
  • Accountable for maintaining departmental applications and system functionalities requiring a high level of decision making and technical abilities
  • Work in cooperation with Division Finance, Financial Planning, and other departments to maintain the organizational structure within accounting systems
  • Maintain the company's chart of accounts and reporting hierarchies
  • Coordinate with Division Finance and Real Estate on new and closed site activities, including store maintenance for timing in conjunction with the accounting close and publishing financial reports
  • Support team members and other departments in resolving issues, creating accounting process efficiencies, and engaging in activities that contribute to meeting accounting close deadlines
  • Conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures
  • Analyze business processes to determine areas for improvement
  • Create standard and adhoc reports utilizing various applications: Oracle, OTBI, MS Access, Smart View, and Excel
  • Develop SQL queries to help end-users obtain financial information
  • Take the lead on projects requiring research, analysis, organization, communication and problem resolution

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • Four-year college degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Computer Science
  • Five or more years accounting experience in a larger organization. Oracle and mainframe-based accounting systems experience a plus
  • Advanced level PC skills in Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Ability to develop advanced queries (SQL) and processes in a relational database (DB2)
