We have a new opportunity for a Senior RF Engineer for the Boonton, Noisecom, and Holzworth brands at our Parsippany, NJ location.

The Senior RF Engineer will be responsible for partnering with product management and the engineering team to generate design requirements from market requirements and design and deliver the RF / microwave portion of industry-leading test and measurement solutions based upon those requirements.


Essential Job Functions

  • Work with product management to develop new product definitions based upon market need and business competency
  • Design RF PCBAs (printed circuit board assemblies) to meet demanding performance specifications
  • Cooperate with other design engineers to design signal interfaces and capture schematics.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to define board outlines, board interfaces, and thermal requirements
  • Team with firmware engineers to identify and deliver against firmware requirements
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to design for manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT)
  • Develop and document board and system level test and verification procedures
  • Bring up and perform initial verification of PCBAs and system prototypes
  • Mentor and support test technicians to troubleshoot board and system level issues
  • Support new product introduction including manufacturing ramp-up
  • Participate in future products and technology roadmap discussions
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments and suggestions on RF electrical design aspects in design reviews


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in the following areas: RF simulation, RF board-level and system-level design, schematic capture, use of RF test and measurement equipment to validate and troubleshoot boards and systems, and supporting new product introduction
    • Significant experience in RF and mixed-signal circuit design and PCB layout
    • Hands-on experience of RF/microwave circuit and system assembly and manufacturing, including wire bonding and utilization of microelectronics
    • Experience with designs and assemblies operational to ³ 40 GHz is highly desirable
  • Understanding of and ability to implement basic RF design elements: filters (distributed and lumped), transmission lines, matching structures, small signal gain elements, large signal design
  • Understanding of and ability to use RF design concepts: Smith Chart, S-parameters, VSWR, quality factor "Q", linearity (P1dB, IP3), cumulative noise figure, techniques for accounting for RF parasitics
  • Proven history of meeting design project performance, budget, and timeline requirements
  • Familiarity with RF and microwave power measurement, phase noise measurement, signal generation, spectrum analysis, and noise generation is highly desirable
