Our Virginia Beach and Newport News offices at Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, multifaceted, and self-motivated candidate to fill a critical Project Manager role. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience and a demonstrated ability to create, lead, and manage high-performing teams to successful delivery of projects for our clients. The position is best suited for someone with high delivery capabilities and the ability to understand client needs. This candidate will be able to work independently and as a team member and across multiple business sectors. The position will report directly to the Vice President – Regional Manager and be a key member of the Virginia leadership team.

SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager provides project management leadership to the local office by performing the following duties
Position Description:
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform project management activities in a lead role being responsible for scope, budget and schedule, working in close coordination with project team, subconsultants and clients.
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with a diverse group of program managers, project managers, engineers and scientists on various project needs.
  • Manage client relationships, write proposals and both prepare and present technical presentations and conference presentations.
  • Lead project teams in conducting, planning and analysis for projects from conceptual design to detailed designs including planning, design review, operations review and consulting, and construction services support.
  • Design,manage and contribute to field programs and field data analysis.
  • Be willing to take on growth assignments and develop into front-line leadership.
  • Maintain an entrepreneurial spirit and look for opportunities outside of general areas of practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 15 years or more progressive experience in project management and a proven portfolio of serving clients.
  • Strong communication skills and client-facing experience.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Experience with preparation of proposals, selection presentations and business development.
  • Ability to layout facilities, docks, wharves, and terminals as required as part of Front-End Engineering & Design ( FEED) tasks.
  • Experience in the inspection and/or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports. Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills.
  • Must have a passion for working in a consulting firm environment on various types of projects.
  • Willingness to travel in support of business and project activities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.)
  • Valid driver’s license
