The Manager, Docketing and Court Services support the lawyers in the various practice groups in the New York City office by providing in-depth expertise in docketing, court rules, procedures, legal proceedings, and case trial activity. The Manager assists lawyers as they relate to calendaring and court functions and supervises a Senior Coordinator and Docketing Clerk.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Advise attorneys on procedural matters and strategy.
  • Coordinate data entry into the Firm's docket and calendar system, including computation of due dates.
  • Alert lawyers of incoming court papers, notices, and impending deadlines.
  • Advise attorneys of newly instituted procedures.
  • Research cases by various methods, including Pacer and Westlaw.
  • Review documents before service and filing for correct form, signatures, required filing fees, required number of copies, etc.
  • Perform electronic filing.
  • Draft various legal documents such as notices of entry, stipulations, notices of appearance, and affidavits of service.
  • Accompany lawyers to court for filings and special proceedings.
  • Monitor cases in federal and state courts, and governmental and administrative agencies.
  • Plan and delegate work assignments to two direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Strong working knowledge of CompuLaw, PACER, CourtAlert, Courtlink and the New York state Unified Court System.
  • Strong working knowledge of the CPLR, FRCP, local court rules and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of electronic case filing in Federal, State and Bankruptcy courts.
  • Knowledge and competence in calendaring systems and web-based research skills.
  • Must exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
  • Must demonstrate professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking skills.
  • Exhibit a high level of client service and attention to detail.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in Managing Clerk role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Notary Public license desirable.
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must be flexible to work additional hours.

The annualized salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,00000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exists.
