Position Summary

This position will grow into a Chief Data Officer role.

  • The Senior Data & Analytics manager is responsible for all aspects of data governance, including developing the overall data architecture strategy and creating and maintaining standards and best practices for data provisioning and data integration. They’ll act as the subject matter expert within the organization and can liaise with technical staff, directors, product development team, and marketing managers to ensure data goals and objectives are met.
  • This leader fundamentally exists to help solve business problems at the highest levels of the company.
  • Evangelist to help business leaders understand the art of the possible.
  • Must be able to build an integrated, strategic intelligence platform based on a business roadmap, which will become the foundation that will enable analytics to generate data-driven decision making and continuous innovation.
  • Business knowledge, industry knowledge, and experience delivering meaningful analytics are all essential. This position has a serious business-side alignment.
  • Must be able to speak to engineering resources.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Working experience in financial services. Finserv.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance industry is highly preferred to be successful
  • Knowledgeable with bordereau reports
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Demonstrates expertise in a combination of the following skills: insights, modeling, BI, data science, data strategy and governance, marketing technology, technology delivery/execution. (Modeling is needed. We are not looking for someone that has designed a data warehouse from the ground-up. We are looking for someone that has worked as part of a team on designing or augmenting a data model, and can read entity-relationship diagrams. You do not need to be a DBA, or a Data Modeler by trade.)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Should be able to easily explain examples of how you helped the business use data to make a decision that increased top line revenue, or improved business processes
  • Can/has assessed technology options based on business owner requests
  • Should be able to describe check and balance processes and techniques to ensure data in reports is accurate
  • Applies knowledge of systems, data, and customer requirements to uncover problems and recommends solutions
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the various legislative acts and how they impact data
  • Ability to determine long term directions, industry trends, and how they relate to the organizational needs
  • Must be able to initiate change and be able to communicate effectively

Education

  • Bachelor/master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent work experience
