Scope of the Position
Chemtrade has a 4000+ rail car fleet, a private trucking fleet and utilizes third party rail and truck carriers for transportation of our goods. This role is responsible to lead the logistics operational modal teams ensuring performance execution delivers business goals and objectives. Accountable for delivery of logistics KPI’s. In partnership with logistics purchasing, achieve both our lowest possible cost while achieving desired service levels to our customers. To do this the incumbent will be required to work across the supply chain function, business teams and operations as well as our carrier base to ensure Chemtrade’s current and future operational needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the logistics operations team and establish a world class organization encompassing the best talent and competencies to meet today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities
  • Develop and execute logistics operational strategy to deliver safety, cost, and service goals
  • Ownership of the Chemtrade private trucking fleet, driving optimal utilization and deployment of assets
  • Establish standardized work processes, define, and implement enabling technologies to deliver efficient and effective logistics operations
  • Drive technology selection, implementation, and adoption necessary to align transportation technology to digitally process load tendering loop and future shipment visibility
  • Defines, owns, maintains, and reports the logistics KPIs to include creation and refinement of dashboards to support a control tower approach
  • Understands and ensures market competitiveness with respect to cost, capacity, and service
  • Collaborates with logistics purchasing to ensure service provider base is contracted for required capacity at market-aligned pricing with clear service requirements and accountability
  • Establishment of carrier performance management process and corresponding scorecards
  • Ensure full operational compliance with legal and corporate requirements
What You Need To Be Successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field with minimum 10 years of experience in Logistics/Transportation, or 15+ years Logistics/Transportation
  • Ideal candidate would have both rail and truck experience. Experience in Chemical Industry is preferred
  • Self-starter who can demonstrate a high level of energy and urgency
  • Training and/or experience in either six sigma or lean manufacturing processes and experience with safety awareness/leadership would be desirable
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must have a valid driver license and ability to travel nationally and internationally (to/from the United States) up to 20%
The US base salary range for this position is $90,000- $140,000 + bonus + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.
