SMSI, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer 2 for work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Work would be performed from Albuquerque, NM. The need is immediate. The position is direct hire and is a full-time position. Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for enthusiastic engineers with an interest in building systems and infrastructure to work in Engineering Services Group

Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare design studies, calculations and apply design codes to distill an integrated workable product

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school
Professional Engineer license preferred but not required
5 years of engineering experience with DOE related experience or non-DOE experience
Past projects to have included:
General facility systems design and modeling (UPS systems, VFD motor controls)
Low Voltage electrical distribution power engineering preferred
Control system design(ability to integrate with vendor and site wide data collection and alarm systems)
Design experience in nuclear, accelerator, or industrial facility operations
Working Experience in power system engineering, including fault current analysis, voltage drop calculations, protection coordination studies, and equipment sizing

• Experience preparing electrical system studies preferred, but not required
  Active DOE Q clearance preferred, but not required
• Obtain ,evaluate, and compare equipment selections from manufacturers representatives
• Strong commitment to customers goals and able to meet deadlines

Capability with MS Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, and consultant on a day-to-day basis.
