The Senior Director, Emotional Wellness is accountable directly to the Vice President, Health Services. The position is responsible for the supervision of the Director, Emotional Wellness, the Director, Integrated Emotional Wellness, the Associate Director, Pediatric Emotional Wellness, and the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This position manages staffing, programming, and data to achieve COH’s strategic objective of providing effective and accessible emotional wellness services including: assessment, treatment planning, short-term and long-term psychotherapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, community-based services and educational opportunities. This is a full-time position.

Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and vision in strategies to provide emotional wellness integrated with primary care and housing. Ensures program integrity and excellence by ensuring activities are informed by evidence-based practices. Coordinates methodology and protocols with leadership of other departments to ensure collaborative approach by touching base with partners at least quarterly.
  • Oversees general program operations, ensuring that activities align with COH policies, procedures, and strategic goals
  • Monitors clinical services provided by Integrated Emotional Wellness Clinicians, Emotional Wellness Therapists, and psychiatrists for quality of care, compliance with evidence-based practices, and adequate documentation of services through direct supervision, monthly random spot review, as well as peer review.
  • Assesses effectiveness and sustainability of overall emotional wellness program, including reviewing monthly visit numbers as well as financial reports, etc. Reviews reports which drive COH’s understanding of our performance on key measures and goals for accuracy and insight. Ensures documentation sets targets and measures outcomes for activities
  • Develops new programs and services to support high quality care, based on feedback from community, patients, partners, or in response to new modality of care which may benefit patients and staff
  • Assesses patient needs for emotional wellness services at all locations, including speaking with providers, analyzing health data, review of patient satisfaction surveys, conducting focus groups, etc.
  • Coordinates grant requirements and reporting, attending meetings with other partners as necessary. Monitors grant deliverables to ensure that we are meeting commitments and requirements. Alerts supervisor to problems or barriers with achieving deliverables. Prepares required reports.
  • Advises on EMR or IT needs – recommends and develops modifications to eCW to enhance clinical care, assists in the development of templates and structured data to improve quality of care and efficiency of documentation.
  • Completes intake and needs assessment with high-risk clients as referred by clinicians in Health Services
  • Coordinates with Integrated Emotional Wellness Clinicians to engage clients in emotional wellness services.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
  • Supports collaboration with DC Public Schools in which COH provides emotional wellness services
  • Represents Community of Hope at DC Behavioral Health Association meetings.
  • Meets with other leadership teams and program directors across COH departments to ensure that services are integrated and information is shared. Supports initiatives such as Patient Centered Medical Home designation as well as accreditation if necessary, etc.
  • Meets with supervisees regularly and provides real-time feedback, training, support, and coaching as needed. Creates meeting agendas, sends meeting agendas in advance when possible, and documents concerns promptly as needed.
  • Applies principles learned through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) trainings and/or trauma informed care trainings (TIC) and leads with a DEI and TIC lens when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • LICSW, LPC, or equivalent licensure required.
  • Minimum five years experience in a clinical setting required
  • Two years supervision experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources or the ability to become knowledgeable
  • Familiarity working with low-income populations preferred
  • Experience in community health center setting preferred.
  • Ability to work on site and to travel between sites required
  • This position may require evening or weekend hours depending on client needs
  • This position is a Hybrid. Remote work and on-site work requirements are generally split roughly 50/50. Please note that the remote work agreement is subject to change at any time, and the supervisor may require in person learning for a specific amount of time after hire
