McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational solutions, is looking for a Sr. Designer within our K-12 division, known as School. The Sr. Designer will collaborate with the Chief Innovation Officer, senior leadership, and Creative Director to conceive and execute effective visual imagery and brand engagement materials that clearly communicate how McGraw Hill’s suite of digital products fit into the vision of the Classroom of the Future.

The Center for Innovation is responsible for the design and production of supplemental digital products and innovative emerging technologies within the digital, augmented reality, and virtual reality space, as well as video and other immersive mediums. The Sr. Designer will build materials that effectively communicate a future state, often new and novel to the audience. Materials will take on several formats including presentation decks, social media, interactive web design, video, or other formats that push the boundaries of audience engagement. This is a rare opportunity to help communicate the future of education to a wide audience. You are limited only by your imagination.

This position can be based in our Columbus, OH office or remote.

What you will contribute:
  • Conceptualize and execute upon design solutions to support needs of executive keynotes, sales, and communications.
  • Possess strong conceptual and problem-solving skills, a high-level sense of design, layout, and typography; a broad thinker who can offer a variety of design solutions
  • Have the desire to not just create, but to elevate the craft and quality of work, while adhering to brand voice and established brand standards
  • The ability to guide and influence cross functional team members toward compelling design solutions that meet the strategy and objectives of the campaign, while accurately interpreting feedback, to move things forward with clarity, decisiveness, and momentum
  • The ability to confidently present, sell, discuss, and write about your work effectively for a variety of audiences
  • Fostering an environment of empathy, teamwork, support, and departmental success; the ability to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Ownership of your work and schedule, consistently communicating and delivering against tight deadlines and managing your time efficiently
  • Solid foundational skills and strong attention to detail to file-building, file-naming, version control, print and digital production basics
  • Ability to translate abstract thinking and ideas into actionable strategies and tangible outputs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, effectively presenting work and selling ideas
  • Proven ability to keep up with creative and industry trends and apply new principles to design solutions

What you will need to be successful:
  • A Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, or a related field
  • 3+ years of design experience, with an emphasis on digital communication
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Illustration skills
  • Fluency in print, production, and digital design process
  • Exceptional collaboration, organization, and communications skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with proven ability to work independently as well as transparently within a high-performing and supportive team
  • Ability to flex from conceptual development to production and execution
  • Impeccable attention to detail

The average base salary range for this position is around $60,000 - $70,000 annually, however, base salary pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits depending on the position offered. This information is provided per the New York City Pay Transparency Bill and the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
