THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking an experienced and dependable 3-Year Limited Term Semi-Skilled Laborer to work in our State Game Lands. If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding career the Pennsylvania Game Commission could be the place for you!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position you will assist with maintenance, repair and construction of bridges, roads, parking areas, gates, posting signs, ranges and more. This position will also require you to assist with mowing, pheasant stocking and other duties as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Temporary, Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.
Additional Requirements :
  • This position is in Philipsburg PA, Centre County, willingness to relocate or commute to this work location.
  • The hours of this position are 7:00AM to 3:30PM Monday - Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. At some times of the year an alternate work schedule may be required or offered of 6:00AM to 4:30PM Monday- Thursday or Tuesday -Friday, willingness to work these hours and shifts.
  • Experience operating equipment such as bulldozers, graders, and various combination trucks, trailers, tractors and related farm machinery and equipment.
  • Professional or personal experience in wildlife habitat management, including producing food plots improving or maintaining existing habitat or benefit wildlife by using tools and equipment.
  • Experience in agricultural practices using tools and equipment.
  • Experience in the labor and construction industry using and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Ability to traverse all types of terrains and work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License and any necessary classification and endorsements within one year of employment in this position.
  • Possess certifications or experience with prescribed fire.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working outside for more than six (6) hours per day.
  • Experience working with farm tractors or heavy equipment.
  • Experience identifying trees and shrubs.
  • Experience using hand and/or power tools, including chainsaws.
  • Safety training pertaining to wildland or prescribed fire.
