Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Request for Quote (RFQ) enquiries.
- Develop/Manage Cap Ex plans/projects.
- Accountable for spread dollars by customer.
- Responsible for the development of customer recipes from scratch, or based on customer-supplied recipes, ensuring recipes are entered into the system with all required documentation.
- Respond to customer technical problems and returns as required and maintain a good working relationship with customer contact person.
- Monitor the processing capability of issued recipes and adjust if necessary.
- Disposition off-spec compound and lead segment team on root cause analysis.
- Review new MSDS’s for problematic conditions and pass on concerns to Health & Safety Manager.
- Ensure MSDS’s for compounds are available to the customer.
- Serve as a resource to the segment team on relevant issues.
- Participate on action teams or task forces as required.
- Establish and maintain budgets, targets, and objectives.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor of Science degree and/or equivalent education/experience
- Minimum five years in the rubber industry
- Must demonstrate a basic understanding and working knowledge of rubber chemistry
- Capable of generating a technical report with minimal assistance
- Possess presentation skills to give presentations in a small customer or product development process forum
- Possess working knowledge of rubber lab instruments (RPA. MDR, TGA, FTIR, DSC, Mooney, tensometer, etc), test methods, test procedures, and be able to interpret results
- A team player with strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- Strong organization and communication skills
- In depth working knowledge of rubber compound technology including mixing procedure, development and processing
- Clear understanding of technical standards and test methods
- Able to work independently in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
