Performs a variety of duties in order to provide a clean and safe environment for all residents, visitors, and staff following all policies, procedures and guidelines.

Scope of the Job

Performs basic security and off shift receptionist function by, patrolling, observing, investigating, reporting and answering the switchboard.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the mission of Mercy Community Health and its core values in daily work activities .

Safeguards the residents staff and visitors by patrolling the buildings and grounds and by monitoring the security systems and reporting any unusual behavior .

Assess exterior entrances for unsafe conditions including winter snow/ice to ensure safety of employees and residents

Locks door and shuts off lights when found

Performs receptionist duties on off shifts and as needed for relief

Presents a positive image in both in dress and in communication

Observes employees entering and leaving at change of shift.

Accounts for residents scheduled to return after normal visiting hours

Receives emergency supplies after normal hours

Is first responder in emergency situations

Assists emergency personnel to locations in the building or area of need

Reports any information and instruction to his / her relief

Completes guard report at the end of each shift

Reports unsafe conditions and equipment. Takes emergency corrective action when needed

Maintains high standards of business and ethical conduct in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations including fraud, waste and abuse . Avoids activities, which could result in a conflict of interest.

Promotes a productive atmosphere, facilitates teamwork and treats fellow employees, residents and families with respect and consideration, is helpful, cooperative and courteous. Carries out the spirit and intent of equal employment opportunity.

Promotes and participates in educational programs, both formally and informally to include outside educational programs. Annually attends all required educational programs including at least one session each year of the following: fire safety, general facility/unit safety, infection control, disaster response, hazard communication, resident rights/resident abuse law, corporate compliance, mission and annual PPD requirements .

Maintains required licensing and certifications.

Creates work orders from work order line and closes out completed orders

Call in maintenance personnel when required

Responds to calls within the building concerning heat issues and assesses temperatures.

Responds to water leaks to ensure the proper shut of

Responds to all alarms and assesses the situation and takes appropriate action

Performs maintenance items like changing light bulbs, unclogged sinks/ toilets

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education – High School diploma or equivalent

Experience – experience with security work or maintenance is preferred

Equipment – N/A

Specialized Skills – Must be able to work independently; ability to communicate verbally and written; ability to correct someone actions firmly, but politely.

Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
