Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team is seeking a highly motivated scientist who will focus on developing, applying and implementing conventional as well as emerging epigenetics and/or chromatin structure methodologies towards basic and translational research in support of Genentech’s drug discovery and development. The candidate will work in the cutting edge, high-throughput NGS lab that enables support for a suite of genomic and transcriptomic technologies and tools to Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED). Working at the interface of biology and technology the candidate will have the opportunity to address fundamental research questions by developing and employing
advanced epigenetics and/or chromatin structure methodologies. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in utilizing state-of-the art epigenome profiling and/or genome folding approaches towards understanding control of gene regulation and dysregulation in healthy and diseased state, respectively. Experience in the integration of bulk and single cell molecular profiling including transcriptomic, epigenomic and genomic data is a plus. By being a member of the NGS core technology group the candidate will collaborate with scientists across gRED and participate in multidisciplinary efforts around exploiting large scale genomics data for novel drug discovery and development.

Who you are:

  • MSc with >5 years of relevant experience or PhD in biological sciences or related discipline. Post-doctoral experience is not required, however, valuable.
  • Strong background in genomics, epigenomics and/or chromatin biology with extensive research experience and utilization of NGS technology.
  • Knowledge of basic NGS data analysis is desirable as well as good understanding or hands-on experience with analytical approaches and tools for genomic data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Documented scientific accomplishments as evidenced by strong list of publications in reputable journals.
  • A superior work ethic combined with a strong motivation to make a substantial contribution to Genentech mission to improve lives of patients for the better.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of

South San Francisco, California is $94,300 to $175,240. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
