The Position

Principal Scientific Researcher, Cell and Tissue Genomics, Immunology

The Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics (CTG) within Genentech Research and Early Development is seeking a creative and motivated Principal Scientific Researcher to understand gene regulation and engineer immune cell function for therapeutic applications in oncology and autoimmunity. The successful candidate will develop and apply high content single cell genomics and screening technologies to immune cells to map cellular circuits. Experience with T cell immunology, in vivo models, and/or functional genomics is preferred. Candidate will collaborate on an interdisciplinary team including colleagues from CTG, Cancer Immunology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning departments.


Responsibilities
  • Design and implement massively parallel screens with high information content outputs
  • Apply cutting edge functional genomics technologies, such as single cell profiling and massively parallel screens, to primary immune cells
  • Work together with computational teams to develop and apply models to
describe gene regulation and molecular circuitry
  • Collaborate with disease experts in cancer immunology, oncology, and
immunology
  • Contribute to high impact publications in high quality scientific journals and will have the opportunity to present externally through presentations at key internal and external meetings

Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in relevant fields, including immunology, systems biology, stem cell or developmental biology, molecular biology, and/or biomedical engineering. Post-doctoral or equivalent experience desirable
  • Productive publication record of impactful discoveries
  • Strong background in immunology and experience studying gene regulation in
primary cells
  • Skills working with primary immune cells and/or in vivo models
  • Relevant experience with:
  • NGS and genomics platforms, including single-cell RNA-sequencing,
epigenomics, and/or proteomics
  • Gene delivery (viral, non-viral), genome editing with CRISPR, and/or
synthetic biology
  • Performing large scale screens
  • Working knowledge of biostatistics or bioinformatics including high throughput omics data analysis, visualization, and interpretation is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team
comprised of diverse expertise
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $98,200-$182,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
