School Nurse Job at Whetstone Academy
Whetstone Academy is seeking a full time School Nurse. DAY shift hours Monday through Friday. No evening shifts. No night shifts. No weekends.
Summary
The School Nurse's primary responsibility is for all student medication, medical and dental needs from date of enrollment to discharge. Additionally, the SN is responsible for training and assessing newly assigned staff on medication passing, as well on an annual basis. The SN will lead or assist staff trainings regarding CPR/1ST aid and blood borne pathogens annually or as needed per expiration date.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Communicate effectively with parents, WA staff, pharmacies, and various off site office personnel.
- Maintain organization of all medical charts per WA policy and best practices.
- Administer student medication.
- Complete medication documentation in a timely manner.
- Coordinate prescription refills before inventory medication runs out.
- Dispose of discontinued and missed medications per WA policy and best practices.
- Answer student questions regarding their health.
- Provide over the counter medication and first aid as needed to students and staff.
- Assist scheduling transports with the Logistics Coordinator, when available, students for all medical, dental and psychiatrist appointments.
- Other duties as requested or assigned.
- Attend, participate in, and complete all mandatory training as directed.
