    School Climate & Culture Specialist (3 positions available)
    Program Assistant Terms and Conditions of Employment
    Level 7, $25.56 to $32.89 per hour plus benefits
    Schedule based on 188-day calendar
    Eight hours of paid work time plus 30 minutes of unpaid lunch per day

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Develop an equitable climate within the school by partnering with school staff to ensure interventions, behavior, and academics, are done with fidelity as an active member in the school’s leadership groups including but not limited to:
      • Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Student Support Team (SST), Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), Child Study, Administrative/Leadership Team
    • Coordinate and facilitate Equity Leadership Team within the school to ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of the school-wide programs and policies to improve school climate and culture
    • Aim to establish healthy relationships between school staff and families by encouraging communication between teachers and parent/guardian(s), help facilitate family meetings and provide resources as needed.
    • Provide and participate in culturally relevant professional development for school leaders, family, and staff designed to increase their skill level in developing equitable academic, social, and emotional supports for students
    • Work with curriculum team to ensure culturally responsive classroom practices are in place and collaborate with teaching staff to provide supplemental culturally relevant experiential learning opportunities in and out of the classroom that will help maximize understanding of core standards, curriculum content and introduce equity and social justice education
    • Work with building teams designated to analyze academic, behavior, and attendance data to develop action plans to ensure the use of equitable academic and social-emotional supports for all students
    • Collaborate with school staff and administrative team to carry out the goals of the District that include the World’s Best Workforce, the District Unified Vision, the Graduation Plan, the Superintendent’s Priorities and the District’s Achievement and Integration Plan
    • Establish and develop strong community relationships with college and universities, non-profit institutions, and social services to cultivate possibilities for college and career from pre-k to high school, engage in social learning, and provide students and families with community resources.
    • Provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively in small group settings (ex: Book Club, Girls/Boys Circle, etc.)
    • Work with building teams to analyze academic, behavior, and attendance data through a cultural lens (factors involving racial, gender, socioeconomic, etc.) to provide accurate consultation and develop action plans to ensure educational equity for all students and make appropriate and achievable goals toward eliminating the achievement gap.
    • Work in collaboration with building staff to implement college and career readiness skills
    • Provide individualized student/family services and resources
    • Participate in facilitating professional learning at the building and district level.
    • Provide weekly updates on monthly cultural themes and other relevant communications to building and/or department staff.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • 2-year degree
    • Demonstrated experience in working with racial, ethnic, students of color, international and domestic students, and low income students
    • Experience working in organizations working towards educational equity
    • Experience facilitating professional development
    • Experience developing and implementing successful student and parent empowerment groups
    • Excellent written and oral communicator (listening and speaking) skills in English required
    • Knowledge of culture, heritage and background of students and families
    • Understanding of educational equity, equity, racism and institutional racism, and the achievement gap
    • Excellent oral, written, people/human communication skills.
    • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Strong ability to work independently and produce results.
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
    • Able to work some nights and weekends.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelors of Art or Science
    • Experience working in K-12 systems and a demonstrated history of advocating for racial equity with proven results
    • Knowledge of core standards and higher education enrollment qualifications
