Position Summary

The Scheduler/ Front Desk performs a variety of administrative and clinical duties to include support of the physician and care team in providing quality medical care to patients. The scheduler acts as a connector for the provider and patient throughout the pre-operative process.

REPORTS TO: SITE SUPERVISOR

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

· Retrieves voice mail messages and returns calls, as necessary.

· Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner.

· Answers telephones and courteous and professional manner.

· Triages calls and furnishes information.

· Documents telephone call and accurately records messages on patients EMR.

· Schedules appointments for patient procedures at various hospitals and facilities.

· Updates patient’s information in computer.

· Ensures accuracy/completeness of Patient Information Sheets.

· Updates and confirms current patient demographics and enters into computer.

· Verifies patients’ insurance and copay information and updates in computer.

· Fills in for reception staff at other offices for emergent needs.

· Scans and links specialist consults, test results, lab results, and patient information to patient EMR.

· Enters patients’ referrals into EMR if necessary.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

· Participates in personal development activities.

Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • EMR experience, Athena preferred
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move between 10 and 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to travel to healthcare practices.
