POSITION SUMMARY

The Cashier position is responsible for maintaining customer service, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in adherence to all company policy/store standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.

Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.

    Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
    Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
    Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
    Compute and record totals of transactions.
    Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.
    Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records.
    Sincerely greet every guest as they enter the dealership/store and offering them assistance.
    Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by mystery shop standards.
    Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
    Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management.
    Assist in the training and development of peers.
    Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
    Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized.
    Responsive of safety issues.
    Conscious of shoplifting activity. Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
    Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
    Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
    Communicate customer requests to management.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

    Processing Information- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
    Communicate with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
    Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Miscellaneous:

    With team, present recommendations and assist in implementing quality initiatives.
    Become a brand ambassador by having extensive brand and product knowledge to help cross-sell, up-sell, grow customer relationships and foster loyalty.
    Create customer and employee interactions that foster positive outcomes.
    Provide support on any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    One-year certificate from college or technical school; high school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent.
    One year experience in sales or front-line customer service position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Must be able to work and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
    Have knowledge of basic related products along with a willingness to learn.
    Excellent customer service skills.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
    Be a fast learner, cheerful, with a positive attitude.
    Previous experience in a retail environment.
    Knowledge of retail computer systems, a plus.
    A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
    A strong team player yet still able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, TOOL, VEHICLES USED

Cash register, scanner, phone, copy machine and fax machine.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an open retail environment with motorcycles displayed in some locations. The space is routinely air conditioned, but is also exposed to sunlight and heat on occasion. This role routinely uses standard retail equipment such as cash registers, computers, and phones.
