Overview

The Safety Officer plans, implements, and oversees safety management, advice, monitoring and reporting in the workplace. The officer also engages field and office staff in programs that ensure safe practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures
  • Implementation and documentation of safety programs
  • Train employees in safety procedures
  • Maintain training records
  • Investigations for accidents and injuries
  • Conduct safety inspections in the field
  • Ensure proper use of PPE
  • Maintain OSHA compliance
  • Weekly & Monthly safety meetings
  • Travel to job sites and ensure work is being completed safely
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the company's projects
  • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of modifications to existing operations, systems and procedures
  • Other job-related duties as requested by upper management of the company

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have time management, planning, organizational and job prioritizing skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with employees and clients in such a way that they feel good about the way the company is working with them
  • Ability to effectively utilize technical documentation and literature
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must have an independent work style and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS):

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or 5-7 years of construction safety experience
  • Proficient in the use and understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Works well in a team environment
  • OSHA 500/30; First Aid and CPR (Preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Competent Person Training for fall protection, confined spaces, scaffolding, silica dust, etc. (Preferred)

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

We are a drug free workplace and require a satisfactory background and driving record check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
