GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Treatment Nurse will provide quality of care to prevent and promote healing of alterations in skin integrity of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Communicate with the Director of Nursing regarding alterations in skin integrity of each resident.
• Administer daily scheduled treatments as directed.
• Perform weekly skin audits of residents in the facility as directed.
• Complete Weekly Skin Report and provide a copy to the appropriate facility personnel.
• Participate in staff development to include training and in-servicing related to skin and wound care.
• Provide interdisciplinary involvement in the development of plans of care for alterations in skin integrity and participate as needed in weekly resident care planning conferences.
• Communicate with families any resident care issues related to skin integrity.
• Communicate with and weekly rounds with the wound care physician and other providers as needed.
• Review consultant reports for any skin issues identified.
• Review any regulatory reports related to skin integrity.
• Review the policies and procedures adopted by the facility related to skin integrity.
• Review resident clinical records to assist in the plan of care.
• Provide training to the pertinent facility staff as it relates to skin integrity.
• Update the resident s care plan when appropriate.
• Attend assigned QA committee meetings.
