Iroquois Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed hospital located in Watseka, Illinois. The hospital facility is comprised of clinical and diagnostic services which are dedicated to providing high quality health care services to the community. These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.

We are currently seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient centered professional to join our team as our Education Nurse. The ideal candidate is an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for helping our employees succeed. Must have great customer service skills and be willing to educate others. Summary/Objective

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures. Ensures that quality educational programs are provided to hospital and resident home employees as well as the community. Assists in the development of orientation programs. Communicates with management in order to meet the needs in individual departments.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, coordinates and conducts continuing education programs for employees.
  • Coordinates, development and maintenance of educational records on all staff with Human Resources; reports completion of annual requirements to department directors in a timely manner.
  • Develops and maintains reports as required.
  • Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding educational resources.
  • Sets up demonstration of clinical equipment to acquaint hospital staff to new equipment and assists with the competency of staff on the use of new equipment.
  • Keeps up on the latest developments by attending professional seminars, webinars, institutes and online training.
  • Assists with coordination of education programs for the community.
  • Teaches EKG classes as needed for nurses and patient care technicians.
  • Helps to organize/oversee annual volunteer training
  • Serves as liaison to the American Heart Association Regional Coordinator; is responsible for annual on site reviews.
  • Schedules employees for all AHA classes, including BLS, ACLS, & PALS
  • Communicates education schedules and events to hospital staff including but not limited to flyers, IMH intranet Education Resources section and calendar, emails, etc.
  • Develops education programs to meet regulatory mandatory requirements.
  • Coordinates and trains employees on the Relias training program.
  • Maintains annual Glucose monitor proficiency.
  • Participates in the Environment of Care Committee as well as the Falls/Safety Committee.
  • Represents Education on the Shared Governance Committee.
  • Supports and is involved in the hospital’s Performance Improvement initiative.
  • Contributes to organizational operations by performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current license, in good standing, with the State licensing board.
  • Certified to instruct BLS, ACLS & PALS or obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • 2-5 years experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting
  • Experience of three years in developing and presenting successful educational programs preferred.
