Description

Position performs a wide range of specialized diagnostic examinations and advanced clinical duties. Take patient’s medical history, administer medication to anesthetize, dilate and medicate eyes, test and record near and far acuity, perform manual refractions and applanation, peripheral vision, depth and color perception, take ophthalmic photographs, glaucoma testing, triage emergency cases and maintain patient flow.

Ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of ocular anatomy, pharmacology, terminology, pathology, and diagnosis. Within Nextgen EMR responsible to appropriately document physician examination, physician/patient discussions, physician’s impression and plan, e-prescribe medications, complete templates as required for same day or future patient care. Assists physician in exam as directed and facilitates patient flow by moving patients to examination areas as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Retina experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1-3 years of similar experience within an ophthalmology practice is preferred
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Windows-based applications
