DeKalb County Government is searching for a compassionate and driven Interim Director (with the possibility of long term) at Sunny Meadows, DeKalb County Home. The Interim Director will be responsible for managing the environment, activities and non-medical care for all residents living in the facility to ensure success of the County’s initiatives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervises and directs assigned staff, including interviewing and making hiring decisions, orienting new employees; planning, delegating and controlling work assignments; keeping staff informed of organizational developments; maintaining discipline and recommending corrective action and communicating/administering personnel programs.
  • Oversees all of Sunny Meadows, ensuring residents are being cared for properly.
  • Assists residents, including taking them to appointments, handling their banking and paying bills.
  • Prepares annual budget for home and payroll for employees.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Oversees and maintains all yard work and upkeep of vehicles.
  • Substitutes for employees in their absence.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Supports, encourages, mentors and empowers staff to work collaboratively and to take on special projects and roles in which they are interested.
  • Leads, mentors, models and encourages the team to implement person-centered care.
  • Engages in activities and models activity participation to assist staff engage comfortably in activities with individuals.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in care planning and activity planning.
  • Engages the residents’ families and encourages their assistance, feedback and positive participation.
  • Encourages and models the flexibility to prioritize interactions with tasks that are not direct resident care.
  • Conducts rounds/inspections to evaluate staff methods and environmental needs.
  • Conducts routine team meetings with the staff to discuss ideas and issues.
  • Serves as the liaison among the County Commissioners/Council/staff/residents/community.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Training:

  • High School diploma or GED, minimum. Social Science or Business-related Associates/Bachelor’s Degree, a bonus.
  • License/certification as Activity Director or Social Worker/Social Services Designee, a bonus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with residents in a long-term care or rehab setting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to create and manipulate documents using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of long-term care rules and regulations.
  • Ability to plan, direct, coordinate, and implement overall care functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Excellent proven interpersonal, written, verbal and organization skills
