Resident Counselor Job at United Helpers
United Helpers, founded in 1898, is seeking a Resident Counselor for Gateway Apartments who has the skills, compassion and commitment to deliver high-quality services to people in northern New York.
Resposnibilities include performing a wide variety of tasks with program members to educate and support the development of skills necessary for independent living, as well as educatng members in areas such as self-advocacy, assertiveness, daily living skills, community integration, health services, medication and symptom management, skills development, socialization, substance abuse, parenting skills and employment skills.
They will also work to link program members with necessary services that may assist or facilitate the acquisition and maintenance of these skills.
An Associates Degree in a human services related field is preferred, but a high school diploma or equivilant with 5 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
Applicants must possess a fundamental interest in providing services to the mentally ill and an awareness of their individual needs and abilities.
United Helpers offers a continuum of health care services including a behavioral health clinic, supportive apartments, case management, and assertive community treatment teams.
