Job Description:
The Research Farm Technician works closely and directly with Field Station Development Representatives (FSDR). The Field Research Technician is actively involved in all aspects of the Madera Research Farm primarily in conducting highly accurate and repeatable Agri-Chemical trials, farm management, and leading a group of seasonal interns. This position is located at the Madera Research Station (Madera, California).
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist Field Development Rep. and lead seasonal Interns including all aspects of trial work:
- Including but not limited to trial establishment, applications, data recording, and data entry
- Facilitate strong working relationship with FSDRs, Farm Technician, and Interns
- Help train and mentor seasonal interns
- Assist Farm Tech in general facility, farm, and equipment maintenance
- Manage insect trap checking and overall pest pressure assessments
- Sweep net checks and check trap crop areas with Interns
- Tracking degree days and biofix dates
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Current preferred QAL/QAC or ability to attain within 3 months
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must be familiar with California farm production and equipment
- Must pass drug test
- Must pass a respiratory function test
- Not Required: Background or understanding of basic/intermediate level mechanics
- 40+ weekly schedule including nights and weekends
- Available to work off site or local travel (transportation provided)
- Ability to manage time and priorities in an independent and teamwork environment
- Jan. 1st start date
