Position Description

The Lassar lab in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School seeks a research technician to perform routine laboratory experiments including molecular biology, tissue culture, and histological analysis of tissues from genetically modified mice.

Other responsibilities include assisting with more complex experiments, careful record keeping, and assistance with overall lab organization and operations such as managing supply inventory. Work in the Lassar lab centers on understanding the logic of the gene regulatory network that controls synovial joint formation and the subsequent generation of the articular cartilage. Fundamental knowledge gained from this understanding will be leveraged to develop novel regenerative approaches to treat degenerative joint pathology in murine models of osteoarthritis. Experiments will include bacterial cell culture, molecular cloning in plasmids, transfection of mammalian tissue culture cells, luciferase assays, and histology of mice tissues or RNA-Scope gene expression analysis. Basic Qualifications

College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in molecular biology, cell biology, or a related discipline. At least one year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count towards experience).

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with experimental design, buffer and reagent preparation, and basic biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential, and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

Additional Information

This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.

This is an in-person position based on our campus in Boston.
