The Institute for Engaged Aging (IEA) at Clemson University (https://www.clemson.edu/centers-institutes/aging/index.html) is seeking a full time Research Associate to work on a NIH-funded clinical research trial (ENACT). This position’s duties will include, but are not limited to, participant outreach, recruitment, scheduling, and conducting neuropsychological testing. This position will also include data collection, entry and monitoring for quality. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working with older adults, have excellent time management skills, work well in a team environment, be self-motivated, be able to follow directions and work in a very detail-oriented fashion. Previous experience with research, working with older adults, and any programming experience should be highlighted in the cover letter. Some flexibility for early or late hours may be necessary on occasion. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

Responsible for recruiting and screening older adult research participants, administering informed consents, behavioral assessments, and study interventions, collecting, entering and analyzing data, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements, and other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - Implements study participant recruiting , screening and data collection protocols. Meets weekly recruitment and enrollment goals. Determines if older adult participants meet study eligibility requirements. Obtains informed consent from study participants. Completes data forms with high accuracy and attention to detail.

40% - Essential - Collects, analyzes, and enters data for research studies and ensures quality control. Objectively and consistently administers psychometric tests and questionnaires to participants. Administers study interventions according to protocol. Establishes rapport with study participants and maintains contact with participants enrolled in the study. Facilitates, supports, and motivates study participants. Communicates with study participants to ensure adherence to intervention.

10% - Essential - Interprets rules and regulations pertaining to research to ensure compliance, consistency, and quality control in research projects. Recommends changes in procedures to facilitate protocol compliance as well as to locate, enroll, and track participants. Travels to and attends community events to assist with recruitment and facilitate meeting enrollment goals including diversity goals.

5% - Essential - Ensures that documents are appropriately gathered and maintained, and IRB-, Good Clinical Practice-,and HIPAA regulations are followed. Trains assistants and volunteers who gather and enter data. Composes and disseminates information on studies to study participants and the general public. Monitors compliance of study procedures with federal, state and university regulations.

5% - Essential - Works with minimal supervision. Plans, organizes, and coordinates multiple work assignments and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Effectively and professionally communicates sensitive information and maintains confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree
Work Exp 1+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Preferred Education: Psychology, gerontology, health or behavioral sciences, other related field

Preferred Experience: Working on NIH-funded studies and/or clinical trials. Experience working with older adults and/or diverse populations. Experience with REDCap and Qualtrics. Possible programming experience with R and Python.

Proficient with Office 365 and Zoom software.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:


This position requires direct contact with vulnerable populations and requires medical clearances and vaccinations against COVID-19 or other diseases.

Must be able to assist with transporting boxes of flyers and promotional items to community events. May weigh up to 50 lbs.

Verbal and written communication are essential to interact with team members, participants and members of the external public.
