Position Overview:
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for the reliability of all plant equipment at the Tampa plant. This position requires the ability to solve difficult engineering problems by understanding the equipment design and the science of the processes, and the ability to improve the reliability of the plant and equipment by understanding and utilizing the applications of reliability engineering processes. This position reports to the Reliability Manager.


Critical Success Criteria:

  • Develop, implement, and manage Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program for all equipment.
  • Ensure long-term performance, considering safety, environmental and operational success.
  • Ensure preventative measures are taken to minimize equipment downtime, while improving equipment efficiency and ensuring safe operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering and maintenance to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. The reliability engineer is responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
  • Develop and maintain PM program on all equipment.
  • Develop and maintain Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program. Determine applicable PdM technologies, routines, and routes.
  • Develop and maintain an equipment lubrication sampling program.
  • Participate in the development of design and installation specifications, along with commissioning plans, for new equipment.
  • Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
  • Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Participate in the commissioning of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an asset maintenance plan that includes:
    • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.
  • Prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems, and makes recommendations.
  • Work with Production to perform analyses of assets.
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies:
  • Statistical process control
    • Reliability modeling and prediction
    • Fault tree analysis
    • Weibull analysis
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Asset criticality and utilization
    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and standards. Maintains data used in creating and updating KPI reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from accredited College or University
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in engineering
  • 5+ years of previous experience in at least one of the following: equipment/machinery design and/or fabrication and equipment/machinery maintenance
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Strong functioning knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
  • Proficient in Computer-Aided Design software (Inventor, Creo, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited College or University, preferred, but not required
  • Previous work experience as an engineer in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment strongly preferred, but not required
  • 3+ years of previous experience in one of the following roles: plant engineering, reliability engineering, or maintenance engineering, preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D (Inventor or similar product e.g. SolidWorks, Pro-E) preferred, but not required

Physical Work Requirements:

  • Ability to wear respiratory protection directly against skin with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to move about the plant, including climbing a flight of stairs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in a hot production area wearing protective clothing with or without reasonable accommodation
