Overview

The Recruiting Specialist plans, organizes, develops, and evaluates effective recruitment strategies to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Responsible for the hiring functions, including identifying recruitment markets and strategies, recommending appropriate advertising, facilitating the hiring process from applicant screening and referral to coordinating the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize all of the available functions of the applicant tracking system, Indeed and any other recruitment platforms to conduct vacancy postings, screening activities, scheduling of interviews and hiring applicants. Headhunt and leverage all job boards to track and monitor prospects and convert them to applicants.
  • Seek opportunities in the communities to recruit talent for vacancies at Tresco by actively networking within the communities where Tresco has worksites. Engage in external events within those communities and attend a minimum of 12 external events per year or as assigned. Create relationships with agencies related to Tresco’s mission, including those that serve persons with disabilities, veterans, and people looking for employment.
  • Conduct at least 25 1:1 prescreening interviews each week with potential candidates.
  • Provide accurate and timely personnel updates to HR Director and Leadership. Update vacancy report and onboarding report daily.
  • Regularly update applicant tracking to inform hiring managers of qualified candidates.
  • Assist HR Director by regularly attending meetings with each department division to understand staffing needs.
  • Under the supervision of the HR Director creates, develop, and post marketing material for job ads.
  • Coordinate and administer candidate onboarding and follow-up activities to include new hire orientation. Assist with employee onboarding process including completing post offer documents, communicating with new employees, leading, and facilitating orientation.
  • Process fingerprinting for new hires as required by position. Conduct pre-employment background checks, MVR, and corrdinate drug screenings.
  • Assure primary source verification (PSV) for credentials are received on all applicable positions requiring credentials. Update and conduct PSV prior to expiration date.
  • Direct all employee concerns, complaints, or questions to Employee Relations Liaison and/or HR Director.
  • Ability to learn how each division meets Tresco’s mission and market the division to program participants, employees, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education. Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or at least 2+ years combination of experience and education.

Experience. 2+ years’ experience in recruitment, selection, and hiring preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to recruitment and selection as well as employment law and other Human Resources practices is required.

  • 2+ years’ experience in grassroots organizing, outreach, and/or campaign management preferred.
  • Experience in marketing/social media and public relations preferred.
  • 3 years administrative/professional experience required, of which 2 years should be within a Human Resources environment, preferably in a recruitment role.

Licenses/Certifications. Valid driver’s license.

Other (e.g., post-offer drug screen, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). All employees must undergo a driver’s license record check; employees must pass a background check.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:


  • Exceptional event planning and execution skills: Engaging, addressing, and speaking to large and diverse ranges of candidates, managers, and staff through conversation or presentation.

  • Experience and confidence with data entry, tracking, and interpretation through excel or other similar programs.
  • Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to all of Microsoft Office 360, Excel, Outlook email & calendar, ATS, ADP and Great Plains.
  • Timely and effective communication via phone, email, fax, face to face, Microsoft teams and video conferencing to all customers, employees, and applicants of Tresco.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and critical thinking, including interviewing skills, personal communication skills, organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to influence others.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal management and oversight, multi-task, and ability to manage several projects simultaneously to meet specific objectives under time constraints. Must have a sense of urgency and be a proactive self-starter who navigates work effectively to produce high quality results and is a team player.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if necessary and travel at least 40% locally and across New Mexico regions on a quarterly basis for recruitment purposes.
  • Excellent customer service skills required to build and maintain relationships to work well with all levels of management and teams. Promote an inclusive environment by seeking ways to integrate differences.
  • Ability to analyze and apply judgment in resolving complex problems.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.

Rate of Pay: $18 - $20/hr. DOE.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm occasional weekends.
