Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an experienced Recruiter for our Personnel Department. The successful candidate will be self motivated and able to work independently. We are a self-perform heavy civil contractor working in North Carolina. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible after 90 days for benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance and paid time off. This position is 100% on site. Job Duties:

  • Recruiting for prospective employees using various resources (internet, referrals, agencies, in-person events, career fairs, networking events, etc.)
  • Assess applicants relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
  • Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job board/newspapers/colleges/radio stations/billboards, etc.
  • Find and register the company for various hiring events/career fairs across the state of NC
  • Set up interviews for prospective employees
  • Make verbal and written offers for employment to candidates
  • Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices
  • Screen candidates resumes and job applications
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process
  • Promote company s reputation as best place to work
  • Perform background checks of prospective employees
  • Give new employees proper orientation and detailed information about their positions
  • Assist new employees with appropriate paperwork and forms
  • Maintain and utilize computer database consisting of confidential employee information
  • Assist the Personnel Department with organizing, setting up and facilitating company events as needed
  • Assist the Personnel Department with administrative and clerical support as needed. Must be consistent and uphold a high level of confidentiality
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
  • Must be able to use calculators, computers, machines (copy, fax, etc.) and other typical office equipment. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred. Proficient knowledge of English and Spanish (read, write, speak)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • One year minimum prior experience in heavy civil construction recruiting (full cycle)
  • Ability to be prompt, attend appointments/meetings on time and meet deadlines consistently
  • Pays attention to detail, thoroughly reviews work for accuracy with the ability to focus on all areas of a project or task
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 20lbs.
