Scope of Position:

The Range Safety Officer is responsible for the safety of all Neuse Sport Shop customers and staff. Shall posses’ extensive knowledge about the operation of firearms of all types, and may be called upon to offer assistance for shooters using the lanes. Primary duty is to organize, conduct and supervise safe shooting activities and range operations for all shooters at all times. The Range Safety Officer will provide range orientation for new members. Range Safety Officer will ensure that the entire facility and all operations are maintained at the highest standards. MUST PASS CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREENING TEST.

Duties of a Part-Time Range Safety Officer:

• Ensure strict adherence to Safety Operations Guide (SOG) for Range at all time.
• Monitor all activity on the shooting lanes at all times.
• Assist customers with appropriate lane and target operation.
• Promote and smoothly execute instructional programs and shooting events.
• Know and follow all Range plans, programs and policies.
• Operate Range POS software.
• Sell Memberships and Retail inventory.
• Work as a team player with all staff.
• Keep Range sanitary, clean and neat.
• Perform all computer functions as assigned by Range Manager.
• Maintain productive relationships with established customers.
• Attend training as required by Range Manager or General Manger.
• Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with everyone.
• Maintain a well groomed, professional appearance at all times.
• Ability to make sound decisions and judgment calls concerning any safety matter.

• Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years old.
• Ability to work in a lead ambient environment and be tested for lead exposure bi-annually.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient with office technology.
• Ability to wear eye and hearing protection and have hearing tested
• Ability to carry out directives efficiently.
• Proficient with handguns, rifle and shotguns.
• Schedule requirements: available to work during the hours 6am to 9pm weekends and holidays and any other time required by mgmt.
• Desire to learn new skills and accept responsibility.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
• Highly self-motivated/able to work without direction.
• Naturally friendly and positive daily attitude.
• Desire to learn new skills and accept responsibility.
• Able to lift 70 lbs, stand or sit for extended period of time.
• Must pass Medical evaluation for respirator usage.
• ** Once hired, the Range Safety Officer must pass the NRA Certified Range Safety Officer test with a score of 90% or higher.
