Responsibilities

• Development of electrochemical and field effect transistor (FET) biosensors.
• Develop procedures for sensor cleaning and functionalization.
• Evaluate biosensor performance using standard electrochemical techniques, such as chronoamperometry and cyclic voltammetry.
• Document lab results into reports.
• Read relevant publications/literature to stay up to date in the field.
• Assist in developing and writing proposals for new programs.
• Investigate and validate new characterization techniques through the use of sensors, hardware, and test methodologies.
• Automate data acquisition, storage, and analysis.
  

Requirements

• Ph.D. in engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field. Postdoctoral training is a plus.
• A strong experimental background in fundamental and applied electrochemistry.
• Experience with electrochemical characterization techniques such as voltammetry, rotating disk electrode, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, etc.
• Good understanding of surface chemistry, electrochemical adsorption and electrochemical interfaces.
• Experience with electrochemical or FET based biosensors is a plus.
• Hands-on experience designing electrochemical experiments, collecting electrochemical data, and performing data analysis.
• Experience with standard electroanalytical techniques and a range of characterization instruments, such as XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, visible-UV, FTIR, Raman, etc.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills to convey experimental plans, give presentations and explain solutions to technical problems.
• Must possess excellent teamwork ability and function well in a highly collaborative R&D environment.
• Must possess a high level of motivation, initiative and sense of urgency.

*** The hired person will directly report the Director of Life Systems. He/she will work with the existing team to support and build on current efforts, and also have the opportunity to participate in the creation of new initiatives in strategically targeted areas.
