NATURE AND SCOPE:
Under the direction of the VP of Youth Programs, the Quality Youth Programs Director will develop, organize, administer and evaluate youth programming, which includes Afterschool, Day Camp and Teen Programs. This position is key to strategic alignment with the YMCA of the USA initiatives to “strengthen the foundations of community” and with the success of the Metro Atlanta YMCA strategic plan.
Requirements:
  • Strong project management skills: highly skilled at planning, organizing, and leading multiple projects, establishing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines on a weekly basis in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, prioritize, and comply with reporting requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with YMCA branch and association team members.
  • Ability to coordinate collection of relevant information from multiple departments.
  • Ability to identify challenges and think creatively to provide solutions.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and lead through influence to achieve goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and execution on grant obligations.
  • Strong data management skills to support cabinets, department leads and program staff.
  • Strong computer proficiency with excellent command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience managing program budgets.
  • Five years of experience in nonprofits.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Essential Functions:
1. Conducts observations of youth program staff practices utilizing youth program quality assessment tools & provides recommendations to Directors to ensure program safety and quality.
2. Participates in regular progress report meetings with Directors to identify and address areas of concern related to best youth development practices.
3. Supervise and monitor all quality assurance activities and staff relating Bright from the Start
4. Supervise and monitor all quality assurance activities and staff relating Quality Rated
5. Develop and follow best practices and protocols, which include quality assurance staffing, training, scheduling, accountability and reporting.
6. Support Club Directors in hiring, onboarding, coaching and performance evaluations of program staff.
7. Develop and deliver trainings for program staff implementing programs, grants and partnerships
8. Provide individual and group coaching and training as needed to ensure Y branches and sites are meeting program safety and quality practices, benchmarks and engagement goals.
9. Minimum of 1 year of supervision experience required.
10. CPR/AED certification required within 6 months of employment.
11. YMCA-related certifications required by the job, but other national certification may be accepted as proof of proficiency. YMCA certifications should be obtained within 6 months of employment.
12. Pass the State of Georgia criminal background check and a drug screen test.
13. Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain relationship with staff, YMCA members, volunteers, partnering schools and general public.
14. High degree of human relation skills, i.e., ability to effectively communicate and manage information to peers, staff and volunteers.
15. Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
16. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem-solve and possess effective time management skills.
17. Other projects as identified by VP of Programs.
Employment Requirement:
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
