Quality Inspector – Pageland, SC / Receiving Inspector

Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for satisfactory performance of quality-related practices to ensure products comply with established quality standards. This individual is expected to identify, control, and resolve quality-related issue and participate on internal audits and continuous improvement activities as requested.

A successful applicant will be self-driven, take on problems as opportunities, show exceptional attention to detail, and collaborate within and across departmental boundaries to guarantee compliance to quality specification and standards and promote quality improvements.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all incoming raw material using various instruments such as hardness tester, UT straight beam, calipers and other means as required against the Bill of Lading.
  • Inspect all outside supplier components using the required gauges and instruments.
  • Must be able to understand dimensioned sketches or drawings and written procedural guidance (procedures, work instructions, etc.,)
  • Coordinate with the receiving department priorities of inspection.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Inspect products and processes at various stages of production to ensure that procedures are followed, and specification requirements are met. This includes raw material and purchased goods.
  • Determine acceptability of material and product based on compliance with engineering drawing specifications or other approved documented standards.
  • Identify and control nonconforming and/or defective materials using appropriate tagging system controls.
  • Basic understanding of how to initiate and assign NCR (Nonconforming Report) and CAPA (Corrective/Preventative Actions) as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Audit gauges to ensure adequacy for use and up-to-date calibration.
  • Performance of FAI (First-Article Inspection) and auditing of in-process and finished goods product checks performed by operators for compliance to established standards and procedural guidance.
  • Document inspection results by completing required reports and logs and inputting data into quality database.
  • Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality-related practices and processes.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear the appropriate PPE in performance of duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education, Experience and Qualification:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2-years in a manufacturing environment that included job responsibilities in either Quality, Engineering, or Operations (preferably Machining or Receipt Inspection).
  • Capable in use of variable gauges, attribute gauges, and measurement scales. (i.e., calipers, finger gauges, micrometers, thread plugs, ring gauges, etc.,)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with good communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.,)


Preferred Education, Experience and Qualification:

  • Associates or Technical degree related to Quality or Quality Technology.

Technical school and high school graduates encouraged to apply.

  • 1-2 years working in fast-paced manufacturing environment within either Quality, Operations, or Engineering departments.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Proficiency with JDE Quality Management System


Physical Environment:

  • Frequent walking, climbing stairs, bending, standing, lifting, extending arms, etc.
  • Primarily working on the production floor or laboratory areas which requires wearing of safety apparel including steel toe shoes, eye and ear protection, and other appropriate PPE as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
