Overview of Position

The Quality Control (QC) Assistant will perform daily/weekly quality checks throughout the entire production process to ensure consistent, high quality cannabis and cannabis infused goods are being produced. The QC Assistant will collaborate with the Manager of Product Innovation and Quality and the Lab Assistant for product sample collection and to perform testing and analysis per WCM standard operating procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts routine assessments throughout production processes and leads quality awareness amongst all production teams. Assist in identifying critical quality inspection checkpoints
  • Perform quality inspections at critical checkpoints on a weekly basis
  • Perform random quality inspections on predetermined and focused checkpoints throughout production processes
  • Assist production management team in identifying ways to minimize production touchpoints in an effort to maintain/preserve product quality
  • Leads quality awareness by working hands-on and physically demonstrating proper procedures and techniques with the production staff
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining quality logs in a timely manner to ensure accuracy
  • Assist with conducting routine and non-routine tests and analysis using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Gas Chromatography (GC-FID), and water activity instrumentation
  • Receive, collect, and process product samples for testing and analysis
  • Calculate and log analytical test results in the appropriate database
  • Create reports based on data collected and report findings as requested
  • Assist with calibration of analytical equipment as necessary to ensure accuracy of test results
  • Participate in equipment training and maintenance
  • Assists with maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Maintain a clean work area that is free of any clutter and/or potential contaminates
  • Follow all aspects of the workplace safety program, biosecurity program, and compliance with all rules and regulations
  • Ensures proper waste handling for all lab activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Processing Group Manager and/or Director of Operations

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Proficient language and mathematical skills with ability to read and interpret written documents, spreadsheets, and numerical data and equations with an emphasis in algebra

  • Ability to focus, attention to detail
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, particularly those that govern the medical cannabis industry is preferred but not required
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly with high-stress situations
  • Demonstrated willingness to accept additional projects or challenges

Physical Requirements

  • Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Close visual focus required
  • This position occasionally requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects
  • Must pass a background check
