Quality Assurance Engineer – Analytics
Role Summary
The Quality Assurance Engineer will be a key contributor in maintaining the integrity of the analytics framework across the company's products. Daily responsibilities include testing various company products to ensure proper tracking implementation. This includes Google Analytics tracking across dozens of products, as well as other tools such as Chartbeat, Airship, login services, etc. Success means accurate, up-to-date and robust implementations that provide high-quality data across the enterprise.

Responsibilities*

  • Validate Google Analytics implementation across web, mobile, and connected TV applications
  • Perform manual testing of websites, iOS and Android mobile apps, and Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, and Samsung TV applications to ensure consistent and correct tracking across platforms
  • Communicate with development teams to correct any existing defects
  • Work with development teams to ensure tracking of new features conforms to outlined requirements
  • Support the release cycles of the above apps by completing manual regression and new feature testing in a timely fashion
  • Standardize and automate Google Analytics regression testing
  • Document and improve upon existing manual test processes
  • Develop a repeatable and automatable test process for regression testing
  • Investigate integration with available test automation tools
  • Create and validate regression testing scripts
  • Troubleshoot implementation of Chartbeat, Airship, and other tools to ensure that data passes correctly to other business units

Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of debugging/QA experience, preferably with analytics tools
  • Experience with analytics tools and reporting (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, WebTrends, etc.)
  • Experience using tag managers (e.g. Google Tag Manager, Adobe Dynamic Tag Management, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of mobile (iOS, Android) and set-top-box (Fire TV, tvOS, Roku, etc.) ecosystems
  • Experience using web proxying to inspect desktop and mobile device network traffic
  • Understanding of digital tracking and metrics
  • Understanding of manual test procedures using a variety of test devices
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and identify and implement process improvements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to report test results in a clear and compelling manner
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Ability to learn quickly and identify key concepts independently
  • Ability to manage time effectively to balance competing urgent priorities
