Alpine is looking for a QMED to join our rapidly growing team.

The QMED performs a variety of tasks in the engine room, generator room, pump-room, steering-engine room and more. This description does not cover all the required duties, activities, functions and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Captain/Mates to keep up with maintenance and safety items in accordance with and maintained in company PMS (Planned Maintenance System).
• Inspect equipment such as pumps, distilling plants; lubrication and maintenance of engines and generators, steering systems, life rafts, and sewage disposal systems; cleaning and restoration of tools and other equipment.
• Wiping oil, maintaining tools and, cleaning, preparing, and painting of machinery, equipment, and related spaces. Lubricating moving parts of propulsion engines and auxiliary equipment.
• Overall responsibility of engineering systems maintenance and repair work including keeping required records, logs, and reports.
• Stand engine room watch at sea or port, standing security/engine watch and, assist in ship fueling operations.
• Maintain, repair and operate deck machinery, transfer pumps, strainers, filters, associated piping, valves, fittings etc.
• Assist with minor household duties when required and available, such as taking out the trash, general household cleaning, and helping the survey department deploy or recover survey gear and occasional support of deck duties.

Requirements / Certifications / Licenses:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in QMED role.
• High School diploma or equivalent degree required.

• Solid computer skills.
• Knowledgeable of hydraulic systems a plus.
• Current STCW Basic training course, and valid STCW Medical Certificate.
• TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential.
• Valid Passport.
• Valid clean state driver’s license.
• Legally authorized to work in the US, without restriction.
• Able to perform prolonged strenuous work onboard offshore vessels.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to communicate in English both written and verbal (including over the telephone and radio).
• Ability to effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion.
• Must be able to train assigned workers.
• Must be able to understand and use information in material safety data sheets.
• Must be able to instruct deckhand on use of all tools and machinery onboard vessel.
