This position reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Job Overview:
JOB SUMMARY: Monitors compliance with quality standards in a laboratory setting, to ensure product conforms to specification and food safety practices and assist in documentation involving HACCP, Food Safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor production products via analytical testing. Ensure all documentation is complete.
  • Complete laboratory testing such as pH, water activity, fat %, FFA, and moisture.
  • Collection and analysis of fry oil for testing.
  • Data entry of all analytical testing results; placing a hold if product does not meet specification.
  • Complete daily sensory evaluations on products and report out results.
  • Ensure product specifications, weights, color and other attributes of finished product.
  • Organoleptic tests of finished goods to ensure acceptance to standards, taste, eye appeal, odor etc.
  • Organize and maintain retain products.
  • Conduct customer complaints investigation as needed.
  • Conduct Environmental Monitoring. Complete weekly equipment, environmental swabbing, and air testing, as needed.
  • Plate and read testing plates and calculate plating results.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with departments to communicate Environmental Monitoring results.
  • Order supplies for the quality department. Track lot and cost information for all laboratory and quality supplies.
  • Advise QA Manager regarding questionable product, discarding of bad product or possible stopping of production line to correct or prevent product quality issues.
  • Work with production and warehouse to control, maintain, and/or improve as appropriate the handling, storage, and usage of all other materials.
  • Act as a back-up to the QA technicians when necessary.
  • Assist in development of SOPs by working with production operators to understand current operating procedures, identify best methods, help document new and/or update existing standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in developing HACCP plans, SOP’s and maintaining food safety programs for food safety audits and GFSI audits
  • Perform GMP inspections.
  • Control and retain samples and associated reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires college degree, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in Quality or Food Safety in a food manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand, walk, kneel/squat, climb, bend and lift to a maximum of 50.
