Purchasing Manager – Kapco Grafton, WI

The Purchasing Manager will report to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain & Logistics and is responsible for all procurement activities. The Purchasing Manager will drive procurement efficiencies in a timely and cost-effective way while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and execute policy, procedures and best purchasing strategies and practices
• Track and report key functional metrics
• Develop negotiation strategies and training purchasing team
• Follow price market trends to assess, manage and mitigate risks
• Partner with reliable suppliers
• Create raw material contracts with optimal terms & conditions
• Lead “Steel Council” team to company current with global market events as they impact purchasing
• Serve as liaison and technical expert to Estimating and Sales
• Enforcement of ISO standards and procedures within department
• Evaluate, select and develop vendors
• Generate purchase orders as required
• Expedite delivery and arrange transportation when required
• Negotiate and follow-through of rejected produce disposition with vendors
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in Purchasing, Business, or similar discipline preferred, or comparable work experience
• Minimum of 5 years purchasing management experience with at least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
