Job Description

Western United Electric Supply is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized purchasing professional to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have previous purchasing experience, and above average computer skills.

To be successful in this procurement role, you should be a strategic thinker and problem solver.

Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other pertinent information in an organized manner.
  • Create purchase orders to vendors and manage purchasing controls to mitigate potential stock shortages .
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of electric utility products.
  • Develop the knowledge and ability to procure alternate products and recommend alternate manufacturers.
  • Stay current with product information and updates.
  • Communicate with vendors and sales team to follow up on, and resolve open issues.
  • Review and analyze vendors, pricing, and supply options.
  • Analyze and manage inventory based on past usage and current levels
  • Make professional decisions in a fast-past environment.
  • Be able to take on multiple tasks with varying difficulty in throughout the business day.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all company departments including, Accounting, Warehouse Operations, Inside, and Outside Sales.
  • Work with Purchasing Director to complete special projects and duties as needed.

Purchasing Agent Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in purchasing; within the industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced Excel functions
  • Proficiency in Enterprise software systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent phone skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to achieve goals.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
