JOB SUMMARY:

The Public Affairs, Marketing and Advocacy Director (PAMAD) works under the general supervision of the President & Chief Executive Officer. This position will coordinate the development and implementation of a Corporate Marketing Plan. PAMAD will work with the Executive Management Team and consultants, as required, on public affairs, marketing, advocacy, and related activities to meet corporate strategic goals and objectives. This position will maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the management team. As PAMAD, this position will develop marketing materials and strategies to fully implement the center’s marketing plan, support execution of the corporate strategic plan, and serve as the organization’s spokesperson as directed by the President & CEO.\

DUTIES PERFORMED:

Public Affairs:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Complete presentations detailing center services, operations and activities.
  • Establish contacts with local providers, hospitals, business, industry, and other service providers to facilitate vertical and horizontal service integration.
  • Coordinate press related functions.

Marketing:

  • Support leadership in developing specific strategies to enhance the image of each service, program, department or unit.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement marketing strategies that would best target the center’s current market segment as well as additional targeted market segment as defined in the strategic or marketing plan.
  • Creates, assembles, and distributes marketing materials as directed.
  • Maintain a general correspondence file and documentation of all center’s media functions.
  • Interact with the media as required to coordinate coverage and media events.
  • Ensure coordination of marketing activities across departmental and functional areas.
  • Research, plan and implement promotional campaigns for the different activities held by the center.
  • Coordinate and design advertising projects needed to advance the corporate mission and promote positive public identification with the center.
  • Manage marketing activities within approved budgetary guidelines.

Advocacy:

  • Serve as the organization’s Advocacy Coordinator. Promote and facilitate active involvement of board, staff and community supporters in local, state and national health center advocacy efforts.
  • Assist President & CEO with implementation of NHFHS’s policy agenda.
  • Work with Executive Team and Public Affairs/Advocacy Committee to translate policy priorities and initiatives into strong communication strategies that support the goals and agenda of NHFHS.
  • Represent NHFHS at advocacy meetings, forums, events, and coalitions.
  • Serve as public relations liaison to SCPHCA and government affairs consultants.
  • Implement grassroots efforts to involve patients and community in the advocacy process.
  • Disseminate policy and advocacy materials, presentations, briefs, correspondence, and mailings.

Other:

  • Serve a lead role in coordinating events for the organization.
  • Assist with planning staff, community and special events.
  • Compile and report productivity, statistical data and information on activities supporting corporate goals. Monthly progress report should be submitted to immediate supervisor by 10th of each month.
  • Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement.
  • Actively participate in and comply with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate compliance Program, follow the Program Code of Conduct and obey all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal health care programs.
  • Participates in CQI, other internal committees, special projects/observances or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services.
  • Perform other duties which may be assigned by President & Chief Executive Officer.

Required Experience:


Education

  • A Degree in Marketing (preferred) or related field and preferably 3-5 years experience.

Experience

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in public affairs and advocacy activities.
  • Experience in development and implementation of marketing initiatives.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Considerable skill and knowledge in the methodology of Marketing.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow in detail both oral and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to interact with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment while interacting with employees as well as patients.
  • Maintain professional attitude and behavior that reflects positively on the organization.
  • Must have excellent public speaking skills.
  • Must have good writing skills.
  • Possess knowledge and skills of cultural competency and understanding of needs of center patients and target populations.
