Psychologist 2 Posting for 2023-2024 Academic Year – Generalist Positions
The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) , University Park, PA has two Psychologist 2 positions starting August 8, 2023. These are generalist positions.

Duties include individual and group psychotherapy, initial consultations and triage, outreach and consultation, and urgent assessment, follow-up, and stabilization. These positions are intended to focus on accruing supervised clinical hours for licensure as a psychologist. Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual and/or gender diverse students. All clinicians on our staff perform their duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles, in alignment with the establishment of the Commonwealth of PA as a trauma-informed, healing centered state.
A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and a one-year, full-time doctoral internship in health service psychology are required. APA accredited training/internship, and counseling center experience preferred. In addition to the online application process, candidates should also upload 3 letters of reference and transcripts of graduate work. At least two letters should be from supervisors familiar with the applicant’s most recent clinical work. At least one letter of reference should be from someone in the applicant’s doctoral program. These are limited-term appointments funded for one year from date of hire.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
State College, PA , a university town, with a population of over 105,000 (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. State College and the university provide the major intellectual, cultural, and recreational resources for central Pennsylvania. Applications are due Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
