We are currently seeking a Property Accountant for our Corporate Office in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This position allows flexibility and will have a hybrid home/in office work environment.

This individual is responsible for overseeing a group of 8 to 13 properties by performing accounting functions while providing responsive, professional finance and accounting services and support to our internal and external customers.
This position also includes, but is not limited to:
  • Adhere to company accounting policies
  • Provide accurate information to decision makers and produce timely closing of portfolio of books (4 business days after the last business day of the month)
  • Customer satisfaction rating of at least 95%
  • Complete ad-hoc and seasonal projects

Position Responsibilities:
  • Directly responsible for a portfolio of multifamily rental properties
  • Lead review of property level credits and charges to resident ledgers.
  • Prepare work to be processed by gathering, sorting, and organizing data and documents.
  • Maintain journals and ledgers by verifying, correcting, and posting transactions.
  • Balance accounts by proofing transactions.
  • Pay accounts by issuing checks, or electronic payments.
  • Prepare the financial results by assembling, verifying, and entering transactions, assembling, reviewing and analyzing the resulting financial statements.
  • Capture costs by allocating and recording expenditures.
  • Maintain the month-end closing process and financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
  • Help establish controls, procedures and audits at the property level.
  • Active participation with year-end process, annual and interim audit materials, and outside audit firm reviews.
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Accounting Managers or CFO
Position Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and strong math skills
  • Ability to be active when necessary - walking, bending, standing, lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Obtain Notary Public License within 90 days of employment
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Work well under pressure with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Quick Study-Analytical and attention to detail
  • Proactive with strong work ethic
  • Oral/written communication - strong interpersonal skills
  • Open to constructive feedback and new ideas
  • Preferred: Property Management experience, Working knowledge of Rent Manager, G suite, Manage America and/or AVID
