Overview:

The Project Management Office (PMO) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Project Management Specialist to support the Principal Investigators (PIs) on multi-million, multi-year projects in the National Security Program Office of the National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with the research staff to develop and maintain schedules, provide budget management, assist with deliverables, and develop plans to make monitoring and controlling the project/program streamlined.
• Assist with sponsor required reports.
• Provide day-to-day support to the project and/or program with project management support.
• Perform ad-hoc activities as directed by the principal investigator or project lead.
• Support the project management staff in preparing for various project reviews, including internal and external project status reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

• A BS/BA degree with one year of relevant experience.
• Strong communications skills, with the ability to successfully interact with DOE, project sponsors, senior research staff and senior laboratory management.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of SAP.
• Ability to work self-sufficiently with minimal direction.
• Ability to obtain SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A BS or BA in project management, business, science, engineering or equivalent and two+ years’ relevant experience.
• Completed project management training and/or certification.
• Some hand-on experience with: Oracle Primavera, Deltek Cobra or similar cost processors, risk analysis and simulation software, change control applications, and custom system and report development.
• Ability to learn new software skills effectively (PowerBI, RESolution).
• Master’s degree in project or construction management, business, engineering or equivalent.

Special Requirements:

• Q clearance with SCI:This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy.
• Visa Sponsorship Allowed: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
