Navistar is looking for a
Project Manager - Prototype Vehicle to join our team at our proving grounds in New Carlisle, Indiana! This person will use a hands-on approach to lead prototype vehicle builds using the latest and upcoming commercial vehicle technology.
We take a lot of pride in doing more than chassis and structural durability testing. Throughout our extensive history, we’ve tested everything from Tour De France bicycles to army tanks. Centrally located on 675 acres of rolling terrain in Northwest Indiana, we offer a secure, comprehensive vehicle-testing and development environment for all vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers.
- Manage and lead prototype vehicle builds/retrofits, including those for diesel, electric and autonomous vehicles
- Develop vehicle build plans and manage the execution by mechanics and technicians
- Work cross-functionally across research and development, along with supporting functions
- Use technical background to problem solve design conflicts
- Communicate build status across levels, either in person or virtually
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 2 years of project/program management experience
OR
- Master’s degree
OR
- At least 4 years of project/program management experience

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Experience within the Automotive/Heavy Truck industry
- Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting background
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively cope with change
- Time management skills – can organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet specific deadlines
- Ability to establish relationships and encourage cooperation between organizations
- Ability to follow-up and drive for results/resolutions
- Work effectively in a team environment
