Project engineer coastal offshore and wind Job at Mott MacDonald
Support our coastal, ports, and offshore wind practices in our growing Seattle, WA office. Mott MacDonald is currently looking for a Coastal/Offshore Wind Engineer with 2 to 6 years of experience to join our Seattle ports, coastal and offshore wind teams. This role will be to support offshore wind clients (private and public) on both coasts of North America. Mott MacDonald is a full-service engineering company focusing on the development of marine renewable energy, the development of sustainable and resilient port and harbor infrastructure, and coastal restoration and protection.
Typical projects include offshore wind infrastructure (planning, analysis, and development), subsea cable routing and landfall assessment/design, application of GIS, cable installation/constructability assessments, hazard and constraints assessment, coordination with our environmental, civil, transmission, and trenchless technology teams. Additional work may include supporting navigation and port infrastructure assessments to support offshore wind, metocean data compilation and analysis, and state/federal permitting support.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct subsea cable, landfall, and offshore assessments to support marine renewable projects.
- Develop subsea cable route alternatives and conduct alternatives assessment.
- Support cable landfall options analysis, preliminary design, and final design.
- Analyze subsea and nearshore site conditions and constraints using GIS programs
- Assist with performing engineering analysis and design for coastal, offshore, and marine facilities infrastructure
- Aid in the development of plans, specifications, and construction documents on projects
- Periodic construction oversight
- Technical writing and PowerPoint preparation

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering (Coastal, Hydraulics, and/or Ocean Engineering or related focus)
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated technical, analytical, writing, and presentation skills
- Familiarity with industry standard analysis and design software
- Experienced in using engineering software (e.g. GIS, MATLAB, Python and/or AutoCAD).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
- Post-graduate degree in Coastal, Ocean, or Hydraulic engineering
- Organized and a self-starter in a work setting
- Demonstrated experience in offshore wind, transmission, marine energy sectors
- Offshore Geotechnical hazards assessments
