Workweek: Monday – Friday (9.00 am – 4.30 pm)

The City of Jersey City is seeking to hire a Program Monitor to support the Department of Infrastructure. Reporting to the Sustainability Coordinator, this Program Monitor will work on a variety of projects for the office, including community outreach, educational campaigns, general office administration, data collection, and program development.

Job Duties:

  • Assists with the implementation of internal and external sustainability initiatives, including coordination with other City departments.
  • Coordinates community outreach and educational campaigns, including digital and printed materials.
  • Attends public meetings and events on behalf of the office.
  • Assists with secretarial duties for the Environmental Commission.
  • Assists in the organization and promotion of public meetings and events.
  • Performs a range of administrative tasks including, but not limited to, grant reporting, purchasing, scheduling, organizing meetings, and coordination with the legal department.
  • Coordinates volunteer for various initiatives, as needed.
  • Performs other tasks as needed to support the overall mission and immediate goals of the Office of Sustainability.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or other related areas is required.

Required Experience: One (1) year of experience in Project Management.

  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks as the need arise to meet municipal priorities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally at all times
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have a results-oriented work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to work in a small team environment.

This is a Civil Service Job, and you must eventually pass and qualify for the applicable Civil Service title.
